Back to Tropical fish

In a very possible near future....
"Daddy, what's a killifish"
Daddy, who hasn't a clue responds, "Sounds like something that kills fish"
"No daddy, it is a fish"
"Oh, it must have been a fish that lived a long time ago"
"Like the dinosaurs?"
"Yea, I guess"
"I wish I could have a killifish!"

Sound unlikely? Think again. Ask the hundreds of species of plants and animals that go extinct every year.

The American Killifish Association and its members are working very hard to try to prevent this from happening.
While it is too large a project to realistically try to save all the killies for the future, we can try to save a representational group of fish for the future.
The different major types of killies have been split up into similar types.

I am the Fundulopanchax Core Species coordinator for the American Killifish Association.. Other hobbyist do the same for the Aphyosemions, the Nothosbranchus and the other major genera. The intention is to put together a long term breeding group of people to take on a given representational species and work to ensure it remains an available and genetically viable species of fish for future enjoyment.

Sort of starting a 'living time capsule' for the future. This site is still small. As the Fundulopanchax Core Species Maintenance Program gets going, the site will work to keep up with all the news.

Join up and be part of the news.
